Moyna Monroe has a large family. This petite, elegant woman is mother to three boys and one girl, all of whom are now grown. It is rare for them all to be together with their perspective spouses and children. Everyone happened to be together this past week and they seized the opportunity to hire me to do a portrait of their family. A close family friend, Paige Johnson, filled me in on the four children: Malcolm, Logan, Blair and Kathryn. There are four grandchildren, too! Because they were going to Duke gardens for the birthday of Harper Lee, one of the grandchildren, we decided to meet an hour before the party.
Moyna and I walked throughout the garden with one of her daughters-in-law, Jane, to pick the best spots. I know that this portrait will be displayed in her home and I wanted to get a feel for the colors that she likes. It is nice if a family portrait can capture the people but also be a piece that works with your decor. Here is what we came up with. I can’t wait to see what Moyna picks! Oh, and a HUGE thank you to Paige for keeping everyone smiling!

We met at the Carrboro office to go over her images and create custom pieces from her images. She ended up with 18 of our Small Story Books from the session, as well as holiday cards. This is what Moyna had to say about her pieces: “They are really beautiful! I can’t think of anything nicer to give my family and friends for a present than these books. Thank you so much! You have done a magnificent job. I will certainly recommend you to anyone who needs a good photographer. It has been a pleasure!”
